Abstract

Abstract— Microstrip bandpass filter is presented in this paper for S-band application. The filter employs the microstrip line with port matching topology and plane ground to operate in S-band frequency range. CST Microwave Studio simulator is used for simulation and Rohde & Schwarz Vector Network Analyzer is used for measurement. Filter has size of 120 mm x20 mm and fabricated using low cost FR-4 substrate of 1.6 mm thickness and dielectric constant of 4.3. The proposed filter achieves good return loss throughout the operating band and also measured result indicates that the fabricated filter has achieved bandwidth of 2GHz. The simulated and measured result shows that return loss (S11) and insertion loss (S21) is in respectable agreement for the designed filter. The simulated and measured result exhibits the potential of proposed design.

Keywords— Ultra Wide Band- Band Pass Filter (UWB-BPF), Wireless communication, S- band, Return loss.
