Experimental Techniques to Fabricate the Microfluidic Devices
Abstract
The fluidic motion inside any microchannel is termed as the microfluidic flow. The subject of microfluidics is interdisciplinary in nature involving the principles of basic sciences and engineering. The microfluidic devices are fabricated by appropriate microfabrication techniques. Also, the inner surfaces of microfluidic devices are modified by choosing appropriate surface modification techniques depending on the device material. Also, the characterization techniques are required to determine the inner surface qualities of microfluidic devices and to determine the flow characteristics in microfluidic devices. In this review, the available microfabrication techniques, surface modification techniques and characterization techniques related to microfluidic devices in the Nanotechnology and Integrated BioEngineering Centre (NIBEC), University of Ulster, United Kingdom are described.
