Abstract

Abstract

This paper is about the designing, simulation and economical of an on grid 15 kWp solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant at the boys hostel of Institute of Hotel Management (IHM) in Gwalior (India). It highlights the requirement of electricity at IHM Gwalior. The analysis of electricity bill for the institute is done first. Then 10% of contracted electricity demand (150kVA from Madhya Pradesh Electricity Board MPEB) power plant is designed and installed. The detailed technical and economical study of PV power plant is done by simulation software (Blue sol) and the actual readings from power plant through solar meter are taken and compared with readings from software. It is an important initiative in district like Gwalior where people are highly unaware about PV power plant and this will act as a benchmark in development of PV power plant at the various educational institutes and other building. At the end of paper, the payback period and Capacity utilization factor (CUF) are described.
