Abstract

The present work is aimed to investigate the perturbations of the oscillatory regime of Briggs-Rauscher (BR) reaction by Fe(bipy)32+ and Fe(C2O4)33‑ complexes in a continuous stirred tank reactor (CSTR). The path of the perturbation (immediate quenching of oscillation -inhibition time- resumption of oscillations) provoked by the ferrous complex (Fe(bipy)32+) was found different to that of the ferric complex (Fe(C2O4)33‑). The initial concentration of Fe(bipy)32+ complex showed a linear dependence on the inhibition time. Moreover, the mode of perturbation induced by iron in free form as Fe2+ or Fe3+ ion was found similar to that of ferric complex.
