Abstract

Abstract

Drum boilers are used for continuous steam generation in industrial instrumentation on large scale. Controlling and instrumentation aspect in boiler process is highly stringent as the system is highly complex and exhibits nonlinearity, the transient behavior of boiler operation varies with load requirement as it is multivariable dependent. The main cause of instability in drum boiler operation is due to the uneven monitoring of liquid level due to swiss and swell behavior of liquid involved in it. In addition to that, drum boilers are normally used in instrumentation field where there is sudden load values variation without prior knowledge. In this paper, a nonlinear dynamics behavior of drum-boilers is being presented. The boiler model presented here approximately demonstrates the complex transient behavior of the drum boiler. The control and instrumentation aspect related to controlling of level in the system has been designed due to implication of MPC controller and robust controller. The comparison of each controller effect on boiler operation is being presented and compared in this paper
