Design of Irrigation Control System Based on Soil Moisture

Abstract

This paper presents a solution to the aggregating problem of water availability and effective utilization of the available water as per the need of the crop. This is accomplished by integrating the sensor of soil moisture that estimates the soil's water holding capacity. The information received from the sensor is correlated with the requirement of the plant as per the age of it and correspondingly the water is regulated to the plant through the water pumps. This is achieved with the algorithm written in Arduino Uno-controller. The motor is regulated with the help of a relay switch. This ensures effective water management.
