A Review on Hole Making in Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic Laminates

Lalit Ranakoti, Pawan Kumar Rakesh

Abstract

Abstract

The existence of fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) laminates in the world since 1940s, and its application is till date growing continuously. The research papers published in this field focused on the manufacturing of laminates to its final uses. The FRPs can be manufactured by various processes, but its assembly of laminated product required a hole. Hole in laminate may be produced by means of conventional or unconventional machining. Major attention has been given in the conventional machining i.e. drilling, used for making hole in FRP laminates. In this paper, drilling parameters (spindle speed, feed rate, and drill point geometry) and matrix materials have been discussed in details.
