A Review Study on Analysis & Design of Electrical Transmission Towers

Mukesh D Jangid

Abstract

Due to the increasing demand of electrical energy, the analysis & design of transmission line towers is very important. Out of total cost of transmission lines the transmission line towers constitute about 28 to 42 percent. This research paper presents an overview of research work done regarding the analysis & design of transmission line towers. Study focuses on types, member section types, geometry, capacity, base condition, important parameters of analysis & design, effective cost of transmission towers and also the different methods used by researchers to carry out the analysis & design of transmission line towers with their advantages & drawbacks. Study reveals that an effective economy can be achieved by adopting the suitable methods of analysis & design and also the proper selection of member sections, geometry of tower, base condition is necessary.
