Yasser Rahman Abdul Basit Shaikh, S.P. Nirkhe

Abstract

India is a developing country and some cities are populated very densely and the population is increasing day by day. Industrialization leads to the migration of people to urban areas from rural areas where job opportunities are prominent. To provide housing space and working space to this extra population there is a need for horizontal development but due to lack of space availability vertical development is needed. Therefore, the demand for high-rise building construction has been increased. This paper presents a review of publications on various structural systems like rigid frame structure, tubular structure systems, i.e., framed tube structure and tube-in-tube structure. The main objective of the paper is to understand the structural systems and their aspects which tend to understand the suitability of the structural system.

Keywords: High-rise construction, vertical development, rigid frame structure, framed tube structure, tube-in-tube structure
