Performance of Cr3C2-25(Ni-20Cr) and Ni-20Cr Coatings on T22 Boiler Tube Steel in Simulated Boiler Environment
Abstract
Corrosion of metals is a dangerous process, due to which there is loss of metal by the attack of corrosive agents. The high temperature corrosion causes fast material degradation which results in failure of components. Boiler tubes in the thermal power plants are subjected to corrosion due to high temperatures. Thermal spray coatings have been used to reduce the corrosion of boiler tubes. In this research paper an attempt has been made by doing experiments on T22 boiler steel withCr3C2-25(Ni-20Cr) and Ni-20Cr Coatings with HVOF technique. The experimentation has been performed in simulated boiler environment of silicon tube furnace. SEM/EDS and XRD techniques are used to study the corrosion products.
