Ravi Kumar, G. Balakumar, S.B. Halesh

Abstract

A Metal framework composite is a composite material with no less than two constituent parts, one being a metal other fortification. At the point when no less than three materials are available, it is known as a mixture composite. Aluminum is generally utilized as a part of aviation and vehicle enterprises because of their low weight ratio and great mechanical properties, better consumption protection and wear, low temperature coefficient of development when contrasted with customary metals and amalgams. The point associated with planning metal grid composite materials is to join the alluring qualities of metals and Ceramics. This paper is gone for improvement of aluminum MMC with half breed support. Here aluminium (LM25) has been selected as base metal along with 10% SiC, 10% activated carbon(AC) have been taken as reinforcements to produce hybrid composite. The composite has been produced by Liquid metallurgy technique (stir casting). The properties of chosen composite is compared with base metal for Tension, Compression, wear and Hardness

Keywords:MMC, Hybrid composite, Stir casting, Aluminium(LM25) , SIC, Activated Carbon(AC), Reinforcement, Hardness, Tensile strength, Compression strength, Wear.
