Saurabh Ratra, Kanwardeep Singh

Abstract

This study analyses voltage stability in the presence of STATCOM, focusing on the relationship between Voltage stability collapse and power system voltage stability. STATCOM and its optimal allocation are anticipated to enhance the voltage stability of the power system. Circular optimization algorithm is used to identify optimum sizing of STATCOM to increase voltage profile of the system. Practical simulation results are verified on IEEE 30 bus system considering multiple STATCOMs under different scenarios. In the power system, node voltages are highly prone towards load variations and topological variations. The primary aim of the optimization is to obtain the best solution of the voltage profile under different loading conditions.
