Abstract

Abstract

In the present study, a reinforced concrete elevated water tank with a capacity of 500 m3 and h/d ratio=0.7 is considered. The present study investigates the performance of elevated water tank considering the impact of liquid sloshing for partially filled tank i.e. half tank condition. The investigation is carried out by considering different staging arrangement such as cross staging and radial staging. By considering all these parameters, total six models for empty tank, half tank and full tank condition are created, these models are provided with ten numbers of columns along with the periphery of a circle with five staging levels. All tanks are models for the seismic zone III. We have made the used of STAAD.pro structural analysis and design computer program based on finite element method. The response of each water tank with respect to others will be checked for base shear, axial force, bending moment, twisting moment, and lateral displacement for empty tank, half tank and full tank condition. The behaviour of each water tank with respect to other is described with the help of graphs.
