Abstract

Abstract

The GFRP laminates are fabricated by hand lay-up process followed by vacuum bag curing and post cured in a heating oven. The laminates are fabricated with addition of 1%, 1.5% and 2.0% graphene filler and prepared laminates are cut into ASTM standards by using water jet cutting. The density and volume fraction of the void fabricated composite is determined. The three-body abrasive wear test is carried out on abrasion tester using dry sand, rubber/wheel as per ASTM G 65 test standards. The three factors such as varying the % of filler, load and sliding distance with three levels are used in the study. The experimentation was carried out according to Taguchi orthogonal array. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) was performed to study the effect of various factors on specific wear rate. It is found that the effect of nanofiller on specific wear rate is more significant.
