Whole-body Vibration among Operators of Mining Equipment in Indian Mining Condition: a Short Review and Recommendation

Abstract


The article focuses on the study of vibration control of heavy equipment mining machines (HEMMs), and its effect on workers involved in mining work. An effort has been made to study whole-body vibration (WBV) in open pit mining based on seat design factors. Mining machinery operators are exposed to WBV. The effect of these occupational hazards is slow, but it can be demonstrated that it is a serious cause of several health risks, such as low back pain, spinal problems and musculoskeletal disorders (MSD). Coal mining workers and the operator of HEMMs are often exposed to occupational health risks such as whole-body vibration (WBV). The assessment of WBV is carried out in accordance with ISO 2631–1: 1997. Through this study, efforts have been made to propose an innovative measure to reduce WBV exposure among HEMM operators.
