Abstract

Free-Space Optics (FSO) is a communication network in which free space work as a channel between transceivers and uses line-of-sight technology and it uses a laser to deliver optical bandwidth association. At present, the FSO system is able for transmission of data, audio and video messages through the environment, permission for optic connectivity not having need of fiber optic cable or protecting spectrum licenses. FSO network can operate over distances of several kilometers. Since there is a limpid LOS between the source and destination, and communication is achievable at a maximum of 10 Gbps of data rate. In this paper, RoF and FSO based hybrid network using different optical fiber are proposed and the performance of developed networks is examined on the ground of distance, input power, bit rate, etc. Here three different kinds of fibers including Alcatel Teralight, Corning large effective area fiber (LEAF) and Standard single-mode fiber (SSMF) are deployed. It is noticed that from the Corning LEAF and Teralight fiber set the standard for high bit rate and found to be better as compared to others. The Corning LEAF yields better results and provides acceptable BER of 10-8 at the bitrate of 3.5Gbps over a fiber transmission distance of 2 km with free space transmission of 1000 meter.
