Abstract

This original research work discusses the sustainable design of drying oil production process using ASPEN PLUS V8.8. Waste reduction analysis studies using WAR (Waste Reduction algorithm) at the early design stage is performed to minimize the waste or pollution by taking better design decisions in the process. Energy analysis is carried out for the entire process and it is observed that 48.92% of energy can be saved for the base case process. Retrofit studies are conducted for the base case HEN (Heat Exchanger Network) by adding five new heat exchangers. Payback period is reported as 0.4201 years.
