Aluminum and its Alloys to Recover from Corrosive Weather

Kalpana Mahato, Bangshidhar goswami

Abstract

Corrosion is defined as deterioration of material, usually metal, because of reaction with its environment and which requires presence of an anode, a cathode, an electrolyte and an electrical circuit. Aluminum and its alloys are reactive to weather of exposure, e.g. ambient, acid and alkalis. Solid to pigments are prevented from corrosion by using inhibitors. Organic inhibitors are ever praised due to non-toxic performances. Basic processes are surface adsorption to produce surface adherent film for protection. Small concentrations of these chemical are effective to inhibit corrosion of metals. Amphoteric self generated oxide protective film is dissolved by both acidic and alkaline aggressive medium to require protection from inhibitors.
