Abstract

The headlights plays a pivotal role while travelling during night on highways. They help the driver in understanding the environment by giving a clear front picture about the objects thus contributing to no accident situation. On long drives during night/bad weather the driver finds difficult in continuous switching from high/low beam at various external environment condition such speed, weather sunlight wind etc. Due to this annoyance of shifting of headlights beam, the driver may get distracted, and this may cause severe road accidents. This paper investigates the needs and provides a novel solution for maintaining headlight beam for two-wheeler as per the external environment condition. The headlight beam shown in this study gets automatically adjusted by using accelerometer and light dependent resistor sensors. The accelerometer is used for sensing the speed of the vehicle and on the other hand light dependent resistor sensor is used for sensing the presence and absence of light during various atmospheric conditions. A new sensor is also incorporated in this system named “DHT22” which is used to sense the humidity and temperature. This helps to detect unfavorable foggy conditions and hence works accordingly. Results indicate that the circuit was tested in the two-wheeler and results found to be satisfactory for installation of the device in any vehicle for increased safety.
