Abstract

The concept of organization as a basic information processing system to provide flexibility and adaptability in highly uncertain and turbulent construction environment was used to design a post-bureaucratic organizational structure particularly for construction industry. The different divisions/departments in the organization are developed as interacting information processing subunits generating and disseminating a continuous flow of data/information. In addition to proposing the efficient way of vertical communication for productivity improvement, the proposed model lays major emphasis on lateral information flow. Hence the coordination in the organization is the basis of reengineering it.
