Abstract

The palm shell, extracted from fruit seed can be categorized as a natural lightweight aggregate. To prepare the lightweight aggregates the mass compactness is between 1450 kg m−3 to 1750 kg m−3, which restricted it as low-density concrete. As the curing period of concrete progresses, there is a rise in the strength recognized the strength in the compression results of the cementitious material in 90 days of testing. Referring to the ASTM, palm shell concrete is suitable for concrete used in structures. Furthermore, minimal transfer of heat and excellent efficiency in absorption of sound are demonstrated by it.
