Abstract

This paper deals with the efficient traffic management and automatic challan generation. In this era of modernization, with increasing number of vehicles it is quite impossible for Traffic Officers to maintain Traffic Rules in large Hi-Tech cities. So our aim is to minimise the work load of traffic personnel by automating a system that will itself detect a vehicle if it breaches the traffic laws. Using Matlab further process of capturing the image of vehicle and extracting the number plate and processing it to generate an automatic E-Challan is easily implemented. Operator now has to directly pay the challan amount to the RTO office or can avail online payments options also. For much greater purpose this project can be used by RTO offices to access the data of every individual vehicle in generating an authenticated E-Challan on the name of the registered owner of that vehicle.

Keywords: E-Challan, violate, Number plate recognition.
