Ajay Singh Tomar

Abstract

Big data sharing and manipulation of geospatial data such a GIS web-based system has become a challenge. Due to the rapid development technology in web based geographical information systems, the uses of web based geospatial application, effective utilization and representation varies from Geo-spatial capabilities and functionalities. In this paper, a web GIS framework was explored to provide a practical solution for the display and manipulations of geospatial data, visualization of raster or vector geospatial data on the web. The framework interacts between client and server that are divided into major layers as; application layer, service layer, function layer and storage layer. In the layers; integrated Google map and OpenLayer map to compare major functionalities as; big data display, management system, interaction with module/function/services and data storage/display capabilities as; PostgreSQL/PostGIS, MYSQL, MSSQL, Oracle Spatial etc. allows developers to integrate mapping capabilities/functionalities into web sites and combine data from more than one source into a single map really challenged and have issues like traffic volume, performance of web site.

Keywords: Open Source, OpenLayer map, Google map, big data, web GIS application, web mapping
