A Review Report on 5s Methodology

Abstract


5S is a technique used by organizations which comes from five Japanese words; Seiri, Seiton, Seiso, Seikets and Shitsuke. This method helps to organize a workplace for efficiency and reduce wasting and optimize quality and productivity via monitoring organized surroundings. It also offers useful visual verification to obtain more firm results. There is a real need for accurate studies in the field of new management systems and their impact on company’s performance. It can be observed that introducing the 5S rules brings great changes in the company. The 5S methodology permits to analyze the processes running on the workplace and establishment of 5S, sustaining well ordered, clean, highly effective and high quality workplace. The results show that 5S is an effective tool for improvement of organizational performance, regardless of organization type, size, its production or its service. Accordingly, 5S techniques would strongly support the objectives of organization to achieve continuous improvement and higher performance.
