The Application of Ergonomics in the Work Environment of ICU

Abstract


Ergonomics plays an important role in healthcare sector. Healthcare as a work environment and as an industry presents a unique set of challenges and opportunities for applying ergonomics. Healthcare industry should make its objectives such that the work environment provided is safe, effective and comfortable. The objective of this work is to study the importance of ergonomics in intensive care nursing for safe and healthy work environment. Data was collected by performing survey for the nurses. Statistical analysis was carried out for the collected data and necessary conclusion was drawn. Finally, some commonly made mistakes of the nurses were identified and key recommendation was given so that more efficient work can be carried out.
