Abstract

Abstract

In power system networks, voltage stability is a main concern for safe operations. But recently due to their stressed operations for increasing load, voltage instability and voltage collapse are evitable, which are main problems in the power system. In this paper, the particle swarm optimization (PSO) technique have been used for optimal location of Static Var Compensator (SVC). The Optimal value of SVC at optimal location through PSO technique is used to maintained voltage profile. The results shows that the overall voltage profile of power system networks are increased within limits and also the real power losses are reduced by optimally locating SVC Facts device in the power system networks. The effectiveness of proposed methodology is tested on IEEE 9 and IEEE 30 bus test systems from voltage profile view points.
