Abstract

Abstract

When a person is involved in a high speed accident; it becomes very fatal if the driver does not wear a helmet. A helmet thereby saves a person from shocks due to impact during accident. Prevention of accidents can be done by implementing strict laws and regulations. Entire world is united in this issue of road safety and there have been various improvements in this field so far. A smart helmet is one in which special facilities are provided to make it smarter than normal helmets. Various devices can be used to make it smarter such as arduino, etc. The arduino acts as an integrating device between various sensors. There are various sensors used to detect and make the helmet smarter. It has facilities to detect whether the person is wearing the helmet or not by using pressure sensors which are placed in the padding foam of the helmet, it also checks whether the vehicle is still moving or tilted I.e. an accident has occurred using the onboard accelerometer on the helmet, it also checks whether the person has over consumed alcohol or not using breath sensors and will thus disable the starting of the bike. These special sensors work when these encounter with a value above a designated value and thus take actions accordingly. The project sole aim is to improve the road safety and thus save precious lives by taking prompt actions by immediately informing to the authorities.
