Design and Implementation of Modular 3D LED Cube
Abstract
Abstract
3D LED cube is a real 3D display that is built from many individual LEDs arranged in X, Y and Z axis. Because many LEDs are used these displays have complicated structure, electronic board and software. Different dimension (resolution) of this display are proposed and implemented, but these systems are non-modular, and we can’t develop their dimensions simply and quickly. In this paper, we propose three novel electronic modules for constructing free dimension 3D LED cube including: main board that is based on microcontroller unit (MCU), layer module and column module that both are based on shift register. Also, we develop MCU program and two PC-based software for deriving, data generation and motion simulation of free dimension 3D LED cube. Experimental result shows that our method is flexible and has good capability to implementation different dimensions of 3D LED Cube simply and quickly.
