Low Cost Home Automation for Elderly and Disabled

Abstract


The term Home Automation is limited to the managing and controlling the home appliances and energy management applications remotely or locally. When the requirement is specific like the automation to be provided to elderly and disabled for the rehabilitation and assistive purpose. Several attempts have been made to design the system that can provide assistance and rehabilitation to the elderly and disabled persons. This system involved robotics which are costly affair due to the involvement of hardware and costly Robot operating systems (ROS). This paper will describe the Home Automation system for elderly and disabled that can provide Assistive, Safety and Healthcare applications to the elderly and disabled persons at low cost without involvement of robotics and costly operating systems.
