Abstract

This paper presents a novel CPW(coplanar waveguide)-fed triangular fractal antenna with round corners for UWB(ultra wideband) applications. The overall size of the proposed antenna is 20×23×1.6 mm3. The impedance bandwidth of the antenna is effectively improved by adding fractal elements at the edges. Also, rounding corners of triangular fractal antenna leads to an improvement in impedance bandwidth. And the impedance bandwidth is enhanced by adding triangular strips on two ground planes with round corners of the CPW line. The experimental and measured results show that the proposed antenna exhibits an impedance bandwidth over an UWB frequency range from 3.8 to 12.1 GHz with S11 < -10dB. The comparison between the simulated and measured results is carried out and show good agreement.
