Abstract

Abstract

Aluminium 2024 alloy is widely used at automobile and aircraft industries in the form of cast component with varying section size. This study investigates how the microstructure and mechanical properties of AL2024 alloy before and after heat treatment processes. Solution sing at 493°C-5H followed quenching in water at room temperature. Stir casting method is followed to obtain the required composite material with proper mixing of reinforcement. Further, the mechanical properties and microstructure were analyzed for all prepared specimens with required dimensional accuracy. Mechanical properties include hardness test and compression test. Obtained results were then compared with the unreinforced alloy. Also graphical representation of all the properties was compared with unreinforced alloy is shown.
