Effect of Electrochemically Synthesized Zno/CoO Nanocomposites on Optical, Electrical and Viscosity Properties of Polyvinyl Alcohol Films
Abstract
Abstract
ZnO/CoO nanocomposites doped poly vinyl alcohol films were prepared by casting method using water as a solvent. X-ray diffraction, IR spectroscopy UV-visible spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy techniques were used to characterize the synthesized nanocomposite films. Study of the structural changes and complexation of nanoparticles with polymer matrix were performed using X-ray and IR techniques. Optical characterization studies revealed a blue shift in the absorption edge with increasing nanoparticle concentration and results in an increase of band gap energy. SEM image gives the surface morphology of the prepared nanoparticle doped PVA films. Experiments performed regarding conductivity and potential measurements for nanoparticles filled PVA films revealed that the conductivity of pure PVA has been enhanced with the addition nanoparticles. The intrinsic viscosity values have been obtained by performing viscosity measurements using the Ostwald viscometer.
