Production of Cellulosic Ethanol from Wood Sawdust by Sulphuric acid Hydrolysis
Abstract
In this study, production of cellulosic ethanol from wood sawdust was investigated. Four experimental parameters were investigated during the hydrolysis and ethanol production. These are particle size (1–3 mm), acid concentration (3–7%), temperature (90–110°C), and time
(120–240 min). The total reduced sugar content and ethanol yield was determined. Response surface methodology (RSM) employing the central composite design (CCD) was used to optimize the total reduced sugar and ethanol yield.
