Influence of Welding Sequence on Distortion of Circumferential Pipe Joint: A Review

Shubham Rupani, Anand Barai

Abstract

Welding of pipes and pressure vessels is a very critical operation for the chemical industries and power plants. It requires considerable experience to develop a proper sequence for welding a circumferential pipe joint. This review paper presents the analysis of different weld sequences and its effect on distortion and stresses in pipe joint. In this paper, experimental results are illustrated for AISI stainless steel pipe joint having diameter 274 mm and thickness 6.2 mm, which is TIG welded with V groove geometry.
