Abstract
As there is an increasing demand for low cost reinforced composite materials in various industrial applications, in this work Aluminium Metal Matrix Composite was prepared by reinforcing cost effective reinforcements like discarded tonner powder particles and coconut shell ash. Aluminium 2024 was taken as the base matrix for preparing the composite as it is widely used in automobile industry. The samples taken for the investigation were prepared by two step stir casting process. As Aluminium metal matrix composites are widely used in many engineering applications where they are subjected to heavy cyclic stress, in this work, the prepared samples were subjected to fatigue test at very high load of about 1000 kg. From the experimental result it was observed that the uniform distribution of the reinforcement particles plays a vital role in improving the fatigue strength of the composite.
