Abstract

Super austenitic stainless steel AISI 904L is the commended material for high corrosion resistance and strength requirements. Super austenitic stainless steels are widely employed in applications like aerospace, automotive, marine, industrial applications. The process of joining of super austenitic stainless steel can be done with several conventional arc welding processes, but micro plasma arc welding which promotes high heat inputs and low dilution of the welds which makes joining of thin metal sheets easier. The objective of this paper is to evaluate mechanical properties and microstructure of micro plasma arc welded super austenitic stainless steel by referring related early research papers.
