Abstract

This research showcases the effect of temperature and time on the characteristics of metal in terms of weight loss and corrosion rate using Selaginella myosurus or Pneumatoptens pennigera Plant. The weight loss was monitored at temperature range of >300OC to < 385OC and time period of 20hr to 120hr as well as decrease and increase was experienced. However, the research further demonstrates the decrease in weight loss of the metal within the temperature of >300OC to < 315OC before sudden increase at temperature > 315OC as well as decrease at temperature >330OC. Increase in weight loss
was experienced with increase the period of exposure (time) and the weight loss (mg) versus time (hr) for MCS metal samples corrosion rate inhibition in complementary presence of vary volumes of GF plant extract and 1.0 molar concentration HCl corrosive solution at room temperature and different
immersion time also revealed increase in weight loss. Indeed, this research demonstrates the significance of the Selaginella myosurus or Pneumatoptens pennigera (GF) Plant in monitoring the resistance to MCS metal weight loss as well as corrosion rate phenomena
