Estimation of BOD of Banganga Nalla of Bhopal City Using Statistical Methods
Abstract
Water is a precious natural source without which life cannot be sustained. Surface water has been the main source of supply for all our purposes. It is also has been the most convenient sewer for industry and municipalities. Estimation of water quality parameters using statistical and other mathematical models are gaining importance because they give more rational basis for water quality planning. An attempt has been made in this paper to estimate Bio-Chemical oxygen Demand (BOD) of the Banganga Nalla. The time-series of BOD data for 2-years are analysed using statistical methods like moving average, single exponential smoothing method (SES) and adaptive response-rate single exponential smoothing method (ARRSES). The ARRSES method is superior as compared to other methods.
