Prashant Kumar, Arundhatee Mishra

Abstract

The ongoing trend of urbanization in India has seen substantial development in the form of significant development in the Reconstitution and Redesignation of Urban Local Bodies (ULBs). However, this procedure also presents a number of issues for planning and governance, particularly for those ULBs that have just been declared or reconstituted. In this research, the planning dynamics of newly designated and reconstituted ULBs in India are analyzed, and critical elements that determine the success of these local governments are identified. A literature analysis on urban planning and governance in several ULBs in India served as the basis for this paper. According to the findings of the research, in order for newly designated or reconstituted ULBs to successfully plan and govern their operations, they require a comprehensive strategy that considers the specific requirements and difficulties of each ULB.
