Review Of Alcohol Sensing With Engine Locking Using Node MCU

Abstract


In this work the review of alcohol detection and engine locking system that can detect whether a driver is drinking alcohol while driving and thus prevent accidents is surveyed. Due to this the number of road accidents are drastically increasing which results in increase in mortality and it has become a major concern. The reason identified is highly intoxicated drivers. Thus the mortality is increasing rapidly especially in  India. The level of intoxication can be detected by using MQ3 sensors which can be either fitted on the steering column or the roof lining of the vehicle. The sensor can sample the breath which further helps in determining the alcohol level in the blood. In case of the equipment fitted the driver will not be able to start the vehicle if the level measured is above the threshold . This equipment is fitted for analyzing the driver’s data not for the fellow passengers. All this done through NodeMCU Arduino with embededded microcontroller which is programmed in such a manner that if the driver is drunk it set on a buzzer. So the driver with alcohol consumption is identified with more accuracy The proposed work utilizes use an ESP8266 microcontroller, Alcohol detection sensor (MQ3), Internet of Things (IoT) device, LCD, and buzzer to accomplish our goal.
