Smart Agriculture System using IoT: Farming in the Digital Age

Raghunath Maji, Biswajit Gayen, Soumyadip Dasgupta

Abstract

Smart agriculture using IoT is an emerging field that promises to revolutionize farming practices by providing real-time data on various agricultural parameters. In this paper, we propose a smart agriculture system using IoT that integrates various sensors and devices to collect and analyze data on soil moisture, temperature, humidity, crop growth, and other factors that affect crop yield and quality. The system also includes a mobile app that provides farmers with insights and recommendations based on the data collected. We have implemented a prototype of the proposed system using off-the-shelf IoT devices and sensors and tested it in a real-world farming environment. Our results demonstrate that the system can provide valuable insights to farmers and help them to optimize their resource use, reduce waste, and increase productivity. The system is also scalable and can be easily integrated with other technologies such as drones, robotics, and blockchain. We believe that this research can serve as a foundation for further research in the field of smart agriculture using IoT and contribute to the development of sustainable and efficient farming practices.
