Prediction of Transformer Oil Parameters Using UV/VIS Spectroscopy Graphs

Abstract
Ultraviolet–visible rays (UV/VIS) spectroscopy is a method based on a spectrum, which forms a graph between radiations absorbed by the material and the wavelength of the radiations. UV/VIS spectroscopy is able to tell the impurities or decay contents present in any sample material. In this paper, we have used data collected from various tests performed on the transformer oil samples and compared these results with the UV/VIS spectroscopy results. This can help us in prediction of the values of various oil parameters such as density, interfacial tension (IFT), breakdown voltage (BDV), flash point and water content in the oil sample by performing only one test. Spectroscopy is a very cheap and less time consuming test.
