Power Quality Problems and Improvement Strategies

Anoop Budhrani, Amit Pathak, Hardik Pandya, Devang Parmar

Abstract

This paper will present different power quality problems occurring in the power system. Due to increase in modern sensitive loads, power quality has become a major area of concern. Power quality problems result in failure of electrical devices or equipment.  This paper will also present solution techniques to power quality problems. Now a days new techniques have been developed for compensation of power quality problems such as Custom power devices like dynamic voltage restorer, D-STATCOM, unified power quality conditioner due to the drawbacks of traditional compensating devices. The main purpose if this paper is to discuss the most common power quality problems and the methods to improve power quality.
