Abstract

Grinding is a metal cutting operation performed by means of rotating abrasive tool, called “Grinding wheel”. Grinding is done on surface of almost all conceivable shapes and materials of all kinds. In grinding, it is possible to achieve very accurate dimensions and smoother surface finish in a very short time and it is only a method after hardening. High temperature to the tune of the 1000 to 1400°C is usually encountered in grinding, resulting into rapid grain wear and high induced surface. But if temperature is going out of range during grinding process, a high generation of heat and corrosion problem and noise generate. In this experiment optimizing or evaluating the parameters in abrasive grinding which done on conventional lathe like cylindrical grinding in the crankshaft manufacturing process.
