Effect of PMMA Micropillars on the Surface-Driven Capillary Flow of Dyed Aqueous Ethanol in PMMA Microchannels

Subhadeep Mukhopadhyay

Abstract

In this work, dyed aqueous ethanol (60% ethanol, 40% dyed water) is prepared as the working liquid. The effect of surface modification on the microfluidic flow of aqueous ethanol is studied in the polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) devices. The effect of surface area to volume ratio on microfluidic flow of aqueous ethanol is also studied. The effect of microfluidic friction on microfluidic flow of aqueous ethanol is also studied. This work will be useful to control the microfluidic flow in lab-on-a-chip systems for bioengineering applications.
