Preparation of Phenolic Resin from Oil of Semecarpus Anacardium
Abstract
Semecarpus anacardium also known as biba, is native of India. The oil of Semecarpus anacardium is found to contain phenolic compounds. These phenolic compounds are extracted and polymerized with formaldehyde to make a resin. This resin serves as a substitute to the conventional phenol formaldehyde resin (resol).
