Onsite Assessment of Wind Energy Potential and Performance of Installed 500W Horizontal Axis Wind
Abstract
Abstract
Wind energy is one of the fastest growing technologies in energy generation industries nowadays. Because, the cost of any wind energy project depends sensitively on the nature of the wind resources available, therefore, estimation of wind characteristics is considered as the first essential step to evaluate a wind energy project based on information about all aspects of the implementation and operation of the project. A good performance evaluation of the system is also of a great importance to have a cost-effective wind energy conversion systems (WECs). In this research, wind energy potential assessment and performance evaluation of 0.5kW (SKYWING) turbine was conducted which takes into account the turbine parameters like coefficient of performance, Cp, capacity factor, CF, and the Energy Pattern Factor, EPF.
