Abstract

Day-by-day population is increasing and this increasing population leads to some problems one of them being availability of pure and usable water. As population is increasing, demand for pure water is increasing and the water resources are limited, in fact resources are depleting. This demands to find out some new ways to save water. One of source of wastage of water is the brine rejection from Reverse Osmosis process and most of the houses use reverse osmosis desalination process for filtration of water and the amount of rejection sums up to great deal. We have observed that while installation of the domestic RO system the technician does not check the parameters of feed water just installs the general system which is applicable for all type of water. This results in poor recovery of water. So we have conducted some experiments keeping in control the working parameters of RO system and recorded the performance of the system at these working parameters. From the data recorded by experiments we observe many things and also can find out a combination which gives less brine rejection.
