Optimal Selection of Electric Motor & Battery for EV Drive Train

Abstract


Due to increased environmental awareness, electricyvehicles are growing more popular over time. Electric automobile consists primarily of a motor and a
batteryysubsystem components for electric propulsion as well as the energy sourceysubsystem. In thisypaper the performance of two motors, the PM motor and the Induction motoryand the battery (Li-ion, NiMH,Lead-acid, Ni-Cd) have been Simulate by electric vehicle applications using ADVISOR (Advanced Vehicle Simulator) software. The phenomena of decision-making for suitable electric motoryand battery observable in all major aspects of electric vehicles performance characteristics such as gradeability and maximumyspeed, maximum acceleration,
andySOC (state of charge).
