Abstract

Abstract

This study is about analysing performance of gasoline and gasoline-ethanol blends in multi-fuel engine. Performance, combustion and emission characteristics of gasoline fuel and gasoline ethanol blended fuels have been analysed in detail under various load conditions, various ignition angle, different compression ratios and at different rpm. The study showed improvement in thermal efficiency at higher compression ratios compared to lower compression ratios as well as with ethanol blended fuel. There was considerable reduction in CO and HC emission with gasoline ethanol blends compared to gasoline fuel. We also analysed exhaust gas recirculation which resulted in reduction in NOx emission for gasoline ethanol blends compared to gasoline.
